The Fluffiest Inside Out Omlette Rice

Japanese cuisine embraces various mouth-watering traditional and western influenced dishes. One of the most popular western influenced dishes has to be omurice. The exact origin of this dish is unknown. However it is said this delightful invention appeared in Japan in the early 20th century. Ever since then, this homey omelette  has been extremely popular amongst the people of Japan.
You may wonder why it has such a peculiar name. As a matter of fact, its name is a abbreviation of the words ‘omelette’ and ‘rice’. Just like the ingredients mentioned in its name, this dish generally consists of fried rice wrapped in an omelette.

Omurice is usually cooked with chicken/beef, rice, ketchup, egg and butter. On the other hand, Kichi Kichi’s version of omurice consists of fried rice topped with a special gravy sauce and parsley. Unlike common omurice recipes where the rice gets wrapped inside an omelette, the freshly made fluffy omelette at Kichi Kichi unfolds itself right before your eyes! Let's go to Kichi Kichi together!

Motokichi Yukimura is a very entertaining and friendly chef who would interact with his customers and put on a charming show as he cooks his signature dish. Furthermore, he happily poses and takes photos for customers upon requests; leaving visitors a satisfied omurice craving as well as a memorable experience at Kichi Kichi. But be warned, this omurice restaurant requires reservation as it only has 8 seats available to visiting customers. It is advised to make reservations as early as possible prior to your visit. Whether you are a foodie who loves egg or an omurice fanatic who is planning to explore Kyoto, be sure to make a stopover at this unique omurice restaurant.
